A Cautionary Tale about Disclosure

This is a bit risky as a post because you may think it’s off the deep end. It’s that middle zone, where most people believe there is other intelligent life, but when it comes to evidence of that or claims about that, eyes roll up. Being a crop circle aficionado, I get my share — especially from what I’d characterize as intellectuals, who frequently get angry at me when I bring my topic up. That must be because I’m an intellectual and my fellow brainy folk must think I’ve abandoned them. (I was a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of NYU, which I display prominently in my promotion materials so I’m not taken as a nut case.)

So, with a wing a prayer, here’s one of the most interesting reports I’ve ever read. It’s about the nature of the visitors that I’d not known. And I give this report credence because it comes from Whitley Strieber, who is aces. He’d been a successful novelist before his abduction experiences, and then, with Communion: A True Story
, his first book about those experiences, he had himself a major best-setter.

I picked up these blurbs from the Amazon website:

“…COMMUNION is surely the most thought-provoking book on UFOs and alien visitation published so far.” — Rocky Mountain News

“A fascinating story…And it certainly could be true.” — Detroit News

“Powerful…Strieber’s storytelling ability makes his own terror and confusion feel real to the reader…Compelling reading.” — Seattle Times

“Powerfully written and involving!” — New York Times

“Should give second thoughts to even the most hardened skeptic!” — Dow Jones News

“Strieber comes through as both sensible and sincere…His book deserves to be taken seriously.” — Boston Herald

I’m legitimizing Whitley so you will click on to read a piece he’s just written, The Danger of Disclosure. I guarantee you’ve never thought about aliens the way Whitley presents them to us.

“One person who is never mentioned among those who might be involved in the disclosure process is me. Instead of allowing one of the very few people on earth, or indeed in its history, to have had much open contact to participate in the process in any way, I’m not simply marginalized, but carefully ignored on the theory that what I have to say would be too bizarre for people to accept.

“Personally, I don’t much care, but I do know that without even the virginal understanding I possess to add perspective, contact, should it follow disclosure, is apt to be a disaster for the human race…

“So, why would disclosure be dangerous? If it somehow leads to immediate and direct contact, it is going to devastate the human mind.”

  1. Great blog! I really love how it is easy on my eyes as well as being well written. I am wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your rss feed which must do the trick! Have a nice day!

  2. Moving and strong! You definitely have a way of reaching people that I haven’t seen. If most folks wrote about this subject with all the eloquence that you did, I’m sure persons would do even more than just study: they’d act. Great stuff right here. Please keep it up.

  3. Wow, that IS a fantastically interesting article. I’ve never read “Communion,” but I’m putting it on my Amazon list right now. This guy sounds persuasively well-reasoned and totally un-fanciful. (I like the dog-human analogy. Woof.)

  4. I agree with Anne White and Larry, although I am working on being more positive about the human race’s ability to change its consciousness (and that means of course working on my own judgementalism) And, I feel I would still take a couple of big gulps if a giant sized insect appeared.

Thanks for taking my comment. It is interesting to see what others have to say. I appreciate the opportunity.

  5. I think Whitley’s rant is all over the place. He seems to have difficulty just getting straight to the point or even making up his mind. Is contact good? Or is it bad? Can some people handle it and some people not? Oooo scary. When speaking about complex subjects, the last thing we need is wishy washy back and forth rants. First off, his title, ‘The Danger of Disclosure,’ leads you to believe he’s going to lay out, in a clear and concise manner, why it wouldn’t be good. But, that’s not what he does. He goes on talking about our brain structure and aliens brains are so advanced blah blah blah, and that disclosure might not be good because “it would certainly cause the collapse of the human mind. Just a very tiny number of people would survive with their sanity intact”.

THEN, he goes on to say BUT “As I have said in these pages before, and as, in fact, I have written John Podesta and others, there is a route to contact that will work well for us”. First NASA should disclose, then the National Academy of Sciences blah blah blah.

THEN, he says that we shouldn’t stop learning and evolving or we might end up like the aliens “half dead’ traveling around looking for a little excitement in the universe. Are you serious??

Some others here made the very wise point that it seems obvious that we are dealing with many more species/entities than just one. Maybe Whitley met the wrong crowd, who knows.

    From ST:
I would point out the distinction between what Whitley reports as his experience and the opinions he holds about what to do. To the best of my ability to discern, I find Whitley to be an honest reporter, and listening to him expands my awareness about what could be going on. Since there’s no way to verify this information, however, its veracity is subject to doubt. To each his or her own about accepting what he says. Regarding opinions about what to do, then we are on common ground, and we can have debates or even arguments about what would be best.

  6. In May of 2008, The Director of the Vatican’s Observatory, Fr. José Gabriel Funes, said, in an interview with the Vatican daily,”The alien is my brother”: http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/believing_in_aliens_not_opposed_to_christianity_vaticans_top_astronomer_says.
Caraldo Balducci, demonologist for the Catholic Church, was reported many times to say that some UFO’s (and their occupants) were real, and they were not demonic in nature.

Carl Jung said that if the U.S. air force knows about the UFO situation, they need to tell the people the truth. Jung said (in the 60s) that the alternative (cover-up, lies and disinformation) was far more damaging than the truth. As to whether or not the people can handle the truth, Jung posed the example of the 60s family that got up every morning, went to work and/or school, raised children, were in many relationships, paid taxes, voted, etc. – and did all this with full knowledge that people in the USA and Russia were sitting at desks with fingers poised over launch control buttons, which could unleash worldwide nuclear warfare. Jung asked the question as to what could be more damaging or threatening than this – and of course the answer is nothing. People can handle the truth – and in a democracy, they have not voted away their rights to know the truth.

Hunter Grey (http://hunterbear.org/betty_and_barney_hill_and_et_enc.htm), in conversation with me several times, has compared what is said about “ETs” in our culture today with what was said about people of color 30-50 years ago, and found very similar racist statements.

I believe that people deserve the truth, and can handle the truth. My personal advice is to not wait for a government spokesperson to tell you that some UFOs and their occupants are real. Fairly sift the information and come to your own conclusions based on your efforts and not the pronouncements of others who may not have your best interest at heart. Peace!

    From ST:
However, another perspective is that if the government were to announce the reality of other intelligence, it could produce massive change in our worldview. We would be one humanity in relation ‘the other,’ and, as someone in the film says, “That could be what saves this civilization.”

  7. I am one of those people who would love to have disclosure and contact. Unfortunately I must agree with Whitley. People, for the most part are incredibley closed-minded. They are way too wrapped up in their earth lives, their jobs and material things. And many are wondering if there will be food on the table tomorrow. People are afraid of what they don’t understand, so they make jokes about it. I am sure I am laughed at behind my back by some members of my family but I really don’t care. I have always been “different” and love myself because of it. If contact were to happen, nothing would surprise me and I really mean NOTHING. If we were to find out that they look like insects, I would not be scared, I would not be surprised. If we were to find out they get their nourishment much the same way plants do, I would not be scared, not be surprised. If we were to find out they put us here and we are actually them, I would not be scared or surprised. NONE of us in the universe would be here, were it not for a Supreme Being, whom I call God. He loves diversity. Look at nature! We are all one, no matter where we come from or what we look like.

  8. Despite our many advances in science and technology, most of the human race is clueless about how we are being manipulated by scientific elites, who are themselves hirelings of a hidden cabal bent on exerting absolute political control of the whole human race. People have been ‘kept’ in an emotionally infantile state, by sports, entertainment, pornography and an inadequate education. It is doubtful they could handle “disclosure”, particularly if the alien are not exactly sympathetic to human interest and ambitions. I think Mr. Strieber is right to question the wisdom of contact.

    From ST:
I don’t know about a conspiracy by some elite segment to control the world. I think of our situation as more of a natural consequence of the belief system we are in. Capitalism, where money is the measure of success, only works for so long, during a developmental phase of building a technically proficient society. But eventually seeking the most money instead of being motivated by what you might call spiritual perspectives rips society apart as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and we don’t deal in the mutuality we need to run a world that works

  9. Whitley writes a good article and reveals his fears but I think those fears are unfounded. I had a very close encounter a few years ago, face to face in a crowded high street with a beautiful Nordic type, tall and elegant she was, with cat’s eyes. Freaked me right out for a second, especially when I realised that not one other person seemed to be looking at her — about six feet four inches tall, lovely to behold, strange as Monty Python and no one was looking!!! I just stood there, dumbfounded, as she walked through the crowd looking right at me. As she got closer I saw a half smile. I’m a man, she was lovely, I smiled back. We held eye contact for ages until she drew close and then passed. Then she looked away and walked on. I just felt, oh, that was interesting, I wonder what will happen next. The point I am making is that at no time did I feel mentally invaded, apart from maybe a little sexual frisson, and nor did any one else. The crowd just carried on shopping. I don’t know who Whitley met; perhaps it’s not the same lot. I do know I would be happy to meet her and her mates. In fact if they are reading this, come on, hurry up, I’ve got loads of interesting questions.

  10. Hi Suzanne,

I love your site and love your movie btw! I just read Whitley Strieber’s article and while I have yet to read his books I think his point is a fascinating one.

My concern with his take on alien motives is that while ‘absorption’ so to speak may be true for some alien species it is a huge leap to assume that out of all the billions of galaxies every alien race has evolved to the same state and shares the same motivations.

And while many people share similar abduction experiences it is presumptuous again to assume there is only one race checking in with humans.

We humans share the same hard wiring but oftentimes expect different experiences for ourselves. Why couldn’t the same be true among other intelligent species?

Not every human wants to become a terrorist. Why would every member of another species want to use us to live vicariously through us?

Strieber is a very intelligent man with compelling points of view but there are some big holes in his theories.

His experience with contact has some darkness to it and others can corroborate his stories but there are just as many people who have equally valid ET experiences without darkness (or perhaps similar just interpreted differently) with corresponding back up experiencers.

Clearly lots of room for discussion here. I love it! Thanks for posting it. I’m a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude too used to people discovering I have 3 heads when I start to discuss these subjects. ;o)

    Carry on!!

  11. I met Eve Bruce at your home in about 25-years ago. Eve and I were later married, and we went beyond “pyramid power” in search of truth and health in unconventional places. While Eve passed on eight years ago, I have continued searching. I have found growing acceptance of things paranormal and extraterrestrial. I understand what Whitley is saying. Most people have a “flat earth” perceptual filter in a hyperdimensional universe. We are approaching a period of great economic change that will produce social and political changes. The time is right for disclosure. However, it is important to have a “road map” for hyperspace, that is referred to in ancient scriptures as “The Father’s House of Many Mansions.” I recently attended the Easter Conference of the Academy for Future Science by J.J. Hurtak (Book of Knowledge: Keys of Enoch), near Albuquerque. It was attended by about 300 from all over the world. The conference content opens participants to a larger reality field and provides some tools for dealing with the interaction with beings of higher intelligence. Hurtak says there are some 70 civilizations interacting with Earth in different ways.

    From ST:
So many rooms in our mansion of a world. I’d never been in the one that Whitley was describing. I think it’s good for us to keep our minds open to all of what could be as we ooze our way into more awareness and greater consciousness — which you would know is my perspective, being an old timer who goes back to so far with me. I do question, though anyone who purports to know the unknowable. I wonder how J.J.can be so definitive…???
