Want to go to TALK tonight?

Feeling loving, even more than being loved, is what makes us really happy. I feel loving when I make things like DOORWAY CAFE happen, where we can do some cheerleading for how it goes in the world.

The happiest day of my teenage years was when I made high school cheerleader.

and transitioned to trying to help the world, it was a time for personal growth hi-jinx. Gurus were on every street corner and post-60s celebration was still going on. I was mated with a wizard-like tinkerer, in an organization of our making called ELF, which stood for Enlightenment Love, and Fun. The bumper sticker was, “Put the elf back in self.” The Fortnightly Friday Follies, only one of many imaginative things we did, found us in the streets of L.A. doing small scale flash mob sort of things 35 years ago. It was creativity central, and it was all about how to have a good time.

It’s a different world, now, and the little cheerleader has tamped down into a relatively dignified do-gooder. Here’s a gleam that’s in my eye now.

Want to go to TALK tonight?

TALK restaurant

My house in Los Angeles long has been a gathering place for activists, where the mingle has been as significant as whatever the presentations have been. It’s not rocket science, but it does take intention and some wiles to get beyond the superficial engagements we usually have. Now, I want to translate that house experience into a go-to place for eating and meeting.

It’s called TALK, and it could be replicated in cities everywhere.
With a desire for greater connectivity being a theme if not a necessity of our day, TALK would mirror the intelligence and interactivity of the world we’d like to be in, where caring about
each other is our operating principle.

The space would sustain itself as a restaurant. On occasion,
there would be cutting edge talks or other paradigm-changing presentations that could reach the world via YouTube and Livestream.

Not only would the conversation be interesting and the presentations be meaningful, but there would be entertainment — unique things like these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GjxVn-kl9s – My great friend and brilliant singer/comedienne, Teresa Tudury

http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=n6mbW-jMtrY&feature=player_detailpage – I don’t know this feather lady who I’d watch  any day.

I share my house with a caterer/party planner who would help put TALK together; I need a partner with means and business knowledge. Here are some sought after attributes:

A keen business sense, the financial resources to do things that aren’t for monetary reward, the desire to serve and to have a good time, smart, articulate, educated, tuned in to enlightened thinking, imaginative, creative, knows how to get things done in the world, well-connected so can bring in superstars, outgoing, likeable, respected, good sense of humor

There’s lifetime free food for a steer to the right person!
